Adventures in Coconut Oil

Burnt my finger today on a red hot burner.

After having worked in a commercial kitchen for 10 years, I was used to hot metal and hot oil burns (up to 300 degrees). They would hurt for a couple minutes, and leave a red mark. But this was a first! It hurt for a second, and then it didn't hurt anymore, it swelled up and turned white. I thought "uh oh, wonder what I just did to myself!"

So I applied ice. And researched. Second degree burn. Ick. It began to hurt again (yea!...found out if it doesn't hurt again, it's third degree!)

So I put my expeller pressed organic coconut oil on, and now the swelling is gone and my finger feels normal! Way better than any burn gel I've ever used!

Also, it's great to keep your complexion clear. And make your hair shiny. And your skin soft. And help you lose weight. Need I say more?

  5. Sounds like good stuff. I had a second degree burn once from hot glue. Yeah that was almost as fun as the second degree sunburn. All I had was aloe vera.

  9. Interesting -- I find now that I'm older when I burn myself it's more severe. Seems like my skin is thinner.

  11. Woe, what?!!? I'm gonna need all the different applications as blog posts lol. Also, where do you buy it, and approx how much does it cost? I've never used anything besides aloe, mustard, honey, or ice on my burns. Great post :-)
